He was born at Nine Mile, Saint Ann, Jamaic on February the 6th 1945. He died at Miami, Florida, U.S.A, on May the 11th 1981.

He was a singer and guitarist of gospel, soul, ska, rock steady and reggae, an artistic director from 1959 to his death.

Bob Marley is really the first superstar coming from a poor country. His music, Jamaican reggae, a nearby drift of rhythm and blues and of American soul, is the voice of every nation of the world. His international career lasted only eight years. He died of cancer at 36 but his myth has survived him.

"Touch me Tomato" is the first song Nesta sang at age five, striking pieces of wood to keep the rhythm. It is his step father "Bunny" who made his first guitar out of a sardine tin, bamboo and electric wire. In 1959 Bob won a pound at a public singing contest. After trying different options, Bob met Jimmy Cliff and the Wailers in 1965.
